An RV furnace has a strict startup sequence, and a no-heat call is really a question of where that sequence stops. The blower must reach speed, the sail switch must close, the board must open the gas valve, the igniter must light the burner, and the flame sense must confirm it. Any weak link stops the whole chain. Low battery voltage is the most common culprit of all — furnaces demand a lot of current to spin the blower, and a battery that seems fine for lights will not start a furnace.
We test voltage under load first, then work through the sequence: blower motor and wheel condition, sail switch operation, limit switch, LP pressure and supply, gas valve function, igniter and electrode condition, flame sense and the control board itself. Blocked intake or exhaust — often from insects or a nest built during storage — is another frequent and easily missed cause.
Short cycling, weak airflow and uneven heat usually trace to duct problems, a partially blocked return, a dirty blower wheel or a limit switch tripping early. These are comfort complaints with mechanical causes, and they are fixable. We also check duct routing and registers because many rigs leave the factory with restrictions that were never right.
Safety is non-negotiable on gas appliances. Every furnace visit includes a check for proper combustion venting and evidence of leaks, and we will not return a unit to service that we consider unsafe. If a component is failing intermittently we say so rather than declaring it fixed and leaving you cold on the next cold night.
